Mother holding her baby by the ocean

“I feel incredibly grateful to have had Harriet (Hats) as my postpartum doula. Our relationship actually began years earlier when she was a breathwork client of mine. During that time she discovered a deep calling to support others and went on to train as a postpartum doula. When I later fell pregnant and she offered to support me after birth, it felt like such a beautiful full-circle moment.

As a first-time mother, I honestly didn’t think I would need postpartum support. I assumed I would just figure it out. But living abroad without family nearby, having Hats in those early months became truly invaluable.

As a yoga, meditation, and breathwork teacher myself, I already had many tools for the emotional and mindfulness aspects of postpartum. What Hats offered me was something I didn’t realise I would need so much: practical nourishment and care.

For many years I had eaten mostly vegan, vegetarian, or pescatarian. During pregnancy and breastfeeding my body needed deeper nourishment, and Hats helped me understand how to truly support my body nutritionally. She showed me simple, nutrient-dense meals that could be prepared quickly for both myself and my family so I wouldn’t become depleted. That level of support made a huge difference to how I felt physically and emotionally during postpartum.

Beyond the meals, it was the love and thoughtfulness she infused into everything she did that meant so much. She would ask what my favourite snacks were and arrive with them, along with new favourites she had loved during her own motherhood journey for me to try. Meals were prepared and labelled with care, and she brought small nurturing touches like magnesium foot soaks for my tired feet.

As a mother of two herself, Hats carries a depth of lived understanding about birth, motherhood, and the many ways these experiences shape us. She holds space with a grounded wisdom that comes from walking the path herself and from deeply respecting that every mother’s journey is unique.

She also brought something equally important into the space: warmth, humour, and flexibility. She could laugh with me during the messy moments of new motherhood and bring lightness when it was needed most.

What stood out most was her calm confidence and the way she truly listens. She has a beautiful ability to hold space without projecting or interrupting, allowing you to feel supported while still trusting your own instincts as a mother.

It never felt transactional. It felt like having a wise and caring friend come to nurture and support me during such a tender time. Whether it was holding my daughter while I took a moment to myself, sharing nourishing food, or simply being present for a conversation, the care she offered was deeply felt.

For me, having a postpartum doula like Hats was not just helpful, it was essential. If you are considering postpartum support, I cannot recommend Harriet enough. Her care, presence, and practical wisdom make her an extraordinary person to have beside you during one of life’s most tender transitions.”
