Mothers’ Blessing Ceremony

Celebrating and honouring the pregnant mother.

A Mother’s Blessing is a private, bespoke ceremony, co–created with you and celebrated with your chosen friends and family. It is designed to honour the pregnant woman, surround her with love, and gently support her as she moves into this new chapter of motherhood. Available in Sydney’s Eastern and Inner City suburbs.

Rooted in ancient traditions, women have always gathered in circles to mark life’s rites of passage.

The intention behind a Mothers’ Blessing

During a Mother’s Blessing, we come together to offer encouragement and strength, so the mother carries this collective support with her as she approaches birth.

I gently guide and hold the space so you (the mother-to-be) can soften into being honoured. I prepare the altar, tend to the energy of the room, and thoughtfully weave in the rituals, readings and intentions that feel most meaningful to you.

I facilitate the circle in a way that feels calm, grounded and connected. There is space for reflection, storytelling, laughter, tears, and moments of stillness. The circle is a place of connection, remembrance, and support, where a mother can be seen, heard, and held by her chosen village.

This ceremony honours the feminine way: connection over isolation, community over doing it alone. It is a reminder that you and your baby are sacred, and that you are supported by those who walk beside you. Partners and loved ones are welcome when desired.

Rituals that may be included in a Mother’s Blessing:

  • Sharing wisdom, song, quotes, or prayers

  • Candle lighting

  • Red thread ritual

  • Bead ceremony

  • Baby prediction cards

  • Massage or foot bath

  • Singing together

  • A meal for the freezer

  • Shared feast

If there are additional rituals you would like to include, that can usually be arranged. The intention is not to perform every ritual, but to create a meaningful, heartfelt ceremony that leaves the mother feeling loved, supported, and deeply held as she steps into her next chapter.

A note on language

We intentionally use the term Mother’s Blessing rather than Blessingway. A Blessingway is a sacred spiritual ceremony belonging to the Navajo Nation (Diné People), traditionally performed to honour rites of passage throughout the life cycle.

In 2004, women from the Navajo Nation asked that non-Navajo prenatal gatherings not be called Blessingways, and instead suggested the term Mother’s Blessing. Using this language is one way we honour the cultural origins of the ceremony and respect Traditional Cultures all around the world who inspire us return to these life-giving rituals and practices.

If you’re curious…

Every Mother’s Blessing is shaped with care, honouring the values and wishes of the mother being celebrated. Whether the gathering is simple or ceremonial, intimate or shared with a larger group, my role is to guide the process so it feels meaningful, nurturing and sacred. The Blessing can be held at the location of your choosing within Sydney City, Eastern Suburbs, Lower North Shore or Inner West.
